Salty in Spring Training

I just found a great video on YouTube of Jarrod Saltalamacchia practicing picking balls out of the dirt and then doing his throwing mechanics to 2B.

Salty and I were roommates on the road in 2005 in Myrtle Beach. He is an extremely talented catcher and this just goes to show that you have to practice EVERYTHING! If you want to be able to do it well in a game, you must practice it first!

Charging the Mound

So I was playing around on YouTube and found this video. I hadn't seen it in a while so I thought I would post it here. I don't know what I would have done if this had happened to me!

1st time for everything!

Well, I guess there really is a first time for everything. Two nights ago I got ejected from a game for slamming my helmet down after a long fly ball was called foul in the top of the 10th inning in an elimination game vs South Florida in the Big East Conference Tournament. It's not a very good feeling to not be able to be on the field and help your team. That was the first time that I have ever been ejected, as a player and as a coach...I started playing 24 years ago at the age of 4!

I guess there is something to learn from all of this though...keep your cool even if you don't agree with something in the game. It's much worse to not be a part of that game!
